Applications

From insulated glass manufacturing to cryogenic air separation — SQ molecular sieves and activated alumina serve demanding industrial applications worldwide.

Insulating Glass Units (IGU)

3A molecular sieve is the industry standard desiccant inside double- and triple-pane window spacer frames. Its 3Å pore adsorbs moisture while excluding argon fill gas, preventing internal fogging for the lifetime of the window.

Gas Drying & Purification

Natural gas, compressed air, and industrial gases must meet strict water dewpoint specs before pipeline transmission. 4A and 13X molecular sieves remove H₂O, CO₂, and H₂S in TSA/PSA cycles, preventing hydrate formation and corrosion.

Oxygen Generation (PSA)

PSA oxygen systems use 5A or 13X APG to selectively adsorb nitrogen, producing 90–95% O₂ for medical, steel, and wastewater applications. 13X APG co-removes CO₂ for cleaner output and longer bed life.

Air Separation Units (ASU)

Cryogenic ASUs require ultra-dry, CO₂-free feed air before the cold box. 13X APG removes H₂O to below −70°C dewpoint and CO₂ to <1 ppm, preventing freeze-out that would block cryogenic columns.

Water Treatment & Fluoride Removal

Activated alumina removes fluoride from drinking water to WHO standards (<1.5 mg/L), and is also used for arsenic removal and air dryer beds. BET surface area ≥300 m²/g ensures high capacity and long service life.

Pharmaceutical & Solvent Drying

3A molecular sieve dries polar solvents (ethanol, methanol, acetone) without co-adsorbing the solvent. 4A protects moisture-sensitive pharmaceutical packaging and API synthesis reaction media from humidity.
